HowTo Skip Check or Update for Extensions (Addons)

As explain in the title, I want to skip at the check or update for my addons or extensions.

In fact, I have no extensions on my FirefoxPortable but when some are installed on Firefox (1.5, 2.0 and more) on the PC where the FirefoxPortable is launching, it ask me to update my extensions.

Please help me.

Thanks

microsoft and others

found out how to install some extensions without asking you in fact and then they also try to update them ... not much to do against it, some you can kind of remove, but they will come up on next pc again. Like the tool for reporting the .net version or some antivirus software does it too.

Tools>Options>Advanced>Update

then uncheck the appropriate boxes, this is for Firefox 2, I don't think Firefox 3 is much different.

If i uncheck this boxes, and I re-launch the FirefoxPortable App, my choices aren't recorded.

Where can I write this in the config files?

this is different

in such case either you did not press OK, but I dont think this is so, it might be rather that your PFF does not use properly the right profile? Did you update the FF sometimes by using the FF internal update function?

same problem

The portable FF seems to check the local installation of the PC, where it is used. Once in the local installation a GLOBAL INSTALLATION of an AddOn is detected, the described window pops up. Normally this is the case for Java Quick Starter, Microsoft .net Framework extensions, Skype extensions for Firefox, etc.

I have not found a way to disable this check. I agree with you, that a PORTABLE application should not care for locally installed programms. On the other hand it makes much sense to use e.g. Java Quick Starter, etc..

So the ideal way would be to 'whitelist' the accepted add-Ons, which might be on the PC and 'blacklist all others. And this without any user interaction...

hamala
