I am using Firefox Portable 1.5.06 on a Windows 2000 SP4 box. Everything works fine but Open File, Save Page As, Save Image As doesn't work.
When I select the command from the pull-down menues, or use the hot keys, the cursor changes to an hourglass until the mouse moves, then it changes back to an arrow. There is never any dialog box to open or save the file. This is true of any web page. I must resort to opening these pages in Internet Explorer (I'd rather not).
These Firefox Portable commands work fine on my Wondows XP SP2 box.
Any Ideas?

It's an issue with something in the OS on that box. Firefox Portable 1.5.0.6 contains an unaltered copy of Firefox within and works fine on my Win2k SP4 test box. So, it's something with that PC. I can't think what it could be though. I'd wager a standard install of FF would have the same issue.

When I start Firefox Portable by going to Start > Run > Browse > Drive:\System\Apps\...\Exec\firefox\firefox.exe and clicking OK the Open File, Save Page As, Save Image As commands do work. However, every time I start Firefox Portable using the U3 Launch Pad the above commands do not work.
Firefox Portable and Firefox for U3 are two different applications. I'm guessing you're using Firefox for U3, correct?

I'm pretty sure I downloaded Firefox from PortableApps.com.
I start Firefox from the U3 Launchpad.
In the U3 Launchpad the app is listed as Mozilla Firefox for U3. Under Manage U3 Programs it says:

Yes, it is Firefox for U3. Firefox Portable is the standard portable version (runs from any drive). Like I said, two different products.
Anyway, on to your issue. You need to upgrade that actual U3 bits. While Firefox will update itself, the launcher (what makes it work in U3) isn't automatically upgraded. You're using the old 1.5.0.0 launcher, which is a bit buggy. So, download FF for U3 1.5.0.43 from here:

And install it into U3 as usual. Don't install your current version. It'll upgrade, preserving your data. Then, fire it up and allow Firefox to update itself. It'll take a few minutes. That should fix your issue.
