Is it just me, or does Amazon.com not like Firefox (Portable?) too much?
My wife's reading Stephen King's Dark Tower series, and asked me to order the second book online. I'm like, OK, fire up Firefox, hit Amazon.com... I got this funny "Associates Stripe" on the top that was acting funny, so I tried to disable it - crash. Went back in, figured I'd leave it alone, pulled up the page for the second Dark Tower book... crash.
I left it alone and went on playing Oblivion on the 360. Digital crack, I'm tellin' ya. Biggest timesink I've ever messed with. Do not get into that game if you want to have any semblance of a life for the next six months. Anyway, my wife gets home and tries herself, same thing (and she doesn't get the Associates Stripe).
I was able to get on and order the books with Chrome, no problem. (Disabled that stupid strip, too, I tried their Associates program a couple years ago and didn't make any money from it, so I quit.)
I'm curious to see if others have the same problem we do. Portable Firefox 3.5, we both have Adblock Plus, Gmail Manager, Tab Mix Plus, and maybe BBCodeXtra - I'm not sure she has any more extensions, she really doesn't care about them. I have many others. Also I wonder if an installed Firefox has the same problem.
The page that crashed us both is the paperback for "The Drawing of the Three - The Dark Tower, Book 2" by Stephen King. Not sure if it's that particular page or Amazon in general, but we were able to browse to that page without crashing, and all three times it crashed on that page. So... yeah.
No issues here for me, I go to amazon quite often. And the page for the book came up too. In fact, it's open as I type this right now.
So two Portable Firefox "installations" crash on the same page, and another doesn't.
Maybe Amazon doesn't like Adblock Plus or another extension we use?
... cause there are no issues with Mozilla Firefox Portable Edition here.
Paid for Software more or less?
What You need is OSS!
and don't have issues. Here's a list of my extensions.
