I used this app to convert WMV to FLV. Works great! Nice simple program which would make a nice PA.

but others as well, are there convertors that keep the high bitrate of a video or audio better than others? Or are they pretty standard?

I normally use MediaCoder to do media conversion, but it's a bit tricky to know how to use it at first. Once you got the basics, it's really a great tool, and it is on SourceForge
On VLC Portable, go to
Media > Convert/Record(or something similar). Select the file you want to save, and then choose the options, VLC will do everything for you. I've already used it to convert to OGG and MPG.Blue is everything.
