Big size problem (data archive)

Peace upon you ....

I'm using Thunderbird from many years ago, I've conveyed whole my data form standard TB to Portable TB (from 1 year ago), but the size of my data became so big (2,3 GB), so it's too difficult to put whole data on my USB stick .

My question :
I need to make archive file for my old data to keep them on my hard-disk and ship the other data on my USB stick ?

Remarks :
1- I've put in my data sub-folders and Message filters
2- sorry for my stupid question, but i think the solving of this problem can do here.

Couple thngs

First off, ensure you've compressed your TB folders. It doesn't do it automatically. You can right-click on individual ones and do it. Or just click on Local Folders and then File - Compact Folders, for example.

Second, TB uses mbox format for storing emails (simple text files). You can move them in and out of your mail directoy as you wish, for the most part. There are some details on this somewhere on the mozilla or mozillazine sites.

Stop multiposting

Just perform the steps I suggested and it will compact them. If you want to do it automatically, it's in Tools - Options - Advanced - Offline and Disk Space - check the box at the bottom.

Please keep in mind, these are general TB questions. They are not specific to Thunderbird Portable. General TB questions should be posed in the mozillaZine forums.
