Make Firefox faster than Chrome

As many of you already know, there are Community Builds of Mozilla Firefox available. These builds are optimized by alternating the way Firefox runs using different code of other such methods. The way PortableApps.com optimizes their builds is by using AppCompactor. Well, if you want your Firefox to be even faster than it already is then you can download a portable version of Firefox from (LINKS TO ILLEGAL packages removed by mod markomlm! If You don't have the permission of Mozilla and PortableApps.com its illegal to publish modified versions of Mozilla Firfox (TM) Portable edition!) pigfoot's weblog and replace the App\Firefox folder with the one provided in his download. Then use the AppCompactor to compress and optimize it even further (reducing the size by approx. 10,000Kb) and relish in the speed. Try it out! It will still save settings in a portable state and be perfectly compatible with the PortableApps.com Platform while still complying with PortableApps.com Format Specs.

This also works with Mozilla Thunderbird

How are the builds illegal?

How are the builds illegal? Isn't it considered a Community Build? It was mentioned on Lifehacker.

well there are still rules

even if it is opensource.
You can build almost what ever you want from those sources, but you are not allowed to use any trade mark names and logos of mozilla. So you can use a name like malikorbrowser and desig own icons for it and it might be ok , but to use the name of firefox for example, you have to have extra permission from mozilla.

Community Edition Rules

The community edition rules didn't permit recompiling Firefox with different options. And required adherence to specific rules. Community Edition builds were discontinued on April 9:
http://www.mozilla.org/foundation/trademarks/community-edition-policy.html

For this build, he should be recompiling without the Mozilla branding.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I will inform him of this

I will inform him of this matter. He has a contact email address available. I am unsure of his ability to understand the English language but I will let him know. Thanks.

Well I somewhat agree that

Well I somewhat agree that distribution of modified packages of any version of Firefox without the prior permission of the respective owner does seem kind of illegal or at least unethical for sure. Just my 0.02 cents.

This whole trademark branding

This whole trademark branding thing is stupid. I suggest you call it "GNFF" for "GNFF's Not FireFox" as a parody of GNU ("GNU's Not Unix")

Stupid =/= Trivial

It isn't stupid. It's a trademarked name and image which are licensed separately from the application code.

What it is, is trivial. Most people do not care about that minor detail. But this site strives to stay on the legal side of things.

Who cares?

You don't need one of them versions, just download Tweak Network @ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/327 , then select power mode. Makes firefox well fast.

Greetings Ryan

And Welcome to PortableApps.com Smile

The addon you liked to looks very nice and I'm sure some of our members will be interested in trying it out, if they have not already.

Could you be so kind as to move the link in your signature to the homepage spot in your profile [the same page you created the signature on] this way it will show as a homepage link next to your user name it posts. Links are not allowed in signatures at this site.

Thanks in advance
and again
