As Zach said. That's

As Zach said. That's something I never discussed with the Songbird guys at length. It may be implemented in future releases if we can work something out.

Changing Drive letters for Songbird and Music Directories

I just saw this, and updated from a previous test release of songbird portable. Then I moved my Music and songbird Portable directory from my external drive to a partition on my internal drive, which changes the drive letter. With the external drive unplugged, songbird can't see any of my music, as it is still looking at the external drive letter instead of the internal one.

I asked about this during the test releases, and the response was that this should be fixed before the final release. Was that not the case, did this slip through the cracks, or am I the only one experiencing a bug here? I can try a fresh install and then move that, but I really don't want to rebuild my library from scratch (with ratings and playlists and all).

Thanks,
Jeremy

All On Same Drive

Your music and Songbird Portable are meant to work from the same drive and all remain in the same relative paths. It's supposed to be used on one portable drive as you move around from PC to PC... or all installed on one local drive on your PC. If you move your music and Songbird from your external drive at (K:\PortableApps\Songbird and K:\Documents\Music) to your internal drive (C:\PortableApps\Songbird and C:\Documents\Music) they will continue to work fine.

Relative Paths haven't changed, just switched drive letters

That's what I did. Songbird and the music directory were together on U:. They are now together on X:. The relative paths have not changed. Songbird is still looking to U: to find the music, it is not using relative paths. Clicking on a song that won't play and choosing show this file reveals that it is looking for the file on U.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Please post a note detailing all of it in the support forum (Other Apps Forum) and we'll have the dev work with you (we don't do support in news story comments... too hard to follow).

True.

Jeremy Cox - In any case, please post a new topic in the Other Apps Support forum, and ensure you're running the new release of Songbird Portable.
