Allow user to have icon stand out more and/or allow user to differentiate between two menus running, e.g. when I plug my UFD in to my wife's PC when she has her menu running we get two gray icons.

Yeah that's a good idea, I would also like to change the colour of the icon.
It could be an easy addition to the .patheme files perhaps? But if it is missing, default to the original icon to maintain compatibility with current themes. Or just hold off until the advanced themeing is implemented. Either way, I second (or third, I guess) this idea :).
