Notepad++ freezes up periodically

I've been using Notepad++ a lot recently and noticing that it randomly freezes up. It will be working fine, no obvious reason why it suddenly freezes - but won't respond and I have to use Task Manager to kill it and reopen. It never comes back.

I don't get any error messages and no other programs on my computer at the time have any trouble.

Anybody else having this issue or have any idea what might be causing it?

Speed of drive?

A few questions:
Are you using it on your local hard drive, portable hard drive, USB drive, or some other storage medium(please list)?
If the storage medium is something you have to plugin via USB are the ports USB 1.x or 2.x?

Sometimes if your PortableApps run slowly/frequently freeze it could be either because you have a slow USB port (ie USB 1.x) or the actual read/write times of the USB drive are slow.
Thanks,
Bensawsome

Me too. I recently upgraded

Me too. I recently upgraded from 5.0.3 (!), which was never a problem, but I'm now getting the occasional random crash with 5.4.5. Thinking of going back :-(

USB 2, external hard drive.

I think I worked my way back

I think I worked my way back three of four versions from 5.4.5 and they all crashed sooner or later but since 5.5.1 came out I haven't had any problems. Give it a try.
