Social vs. Topical board

Those enhancements aren't really befitting of a topical board of this nature. It's just a simple discussion forum. While it could be so much more, an active online community isn't what the project is really going for.

That said, there are things you can do with Firefox extensions. Text-to-image will convert image URLs to images, for example. Not sure if Greasemonkey (userscripts.org) has any for PortableApps.com or Drupal, but that would be a good place to start. GameFAQs' forums are more spartan than these (no avatars, no quoting, and no clickable links) but the site has hundreds of thousands of members, probably, and is run by a megacorp (CBS). Between half a dozen Firefox extensions, people have added links, images, quoting (!!!), and custom themes, it almost looks up-to-date... for 10 years ago, but still better than with nothing. The difference is, that is a very social board; again, this... is not so much.

I have a forum improvement....

One that hopefully makes sense Wink

When you create a topic and you choose what forum you want it in, with the drop down box. Could you make the forum section names bold? It would make it esier to distinguish between them a bit more.

Right now there is only a 'dash' which doesn't really help (for me at least)

It could look soething like this:

-Please choose-
General Forums
-General Discussion
-Request Apps
Development Forums
-Portable App Development

and so on...

Or maybe just a space in between each title?

Simple

The nice thing though about these forums is that really only forums that aren't truly clean are the Request Apps forum and perhaps some of the Support forum (namely the U3 support forum that shouldn't exist).
Pictures are pretty good at tracking (privacy concern) and being distracting, as well as animated avatars.
Smileys are already built in.
I like how clean the forums are, and with the marvel that are hyperlinks, anything that could be embedded are available with a single click ;).

Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.

Pardon the generalization...

Those listed, wanted features are sure cool, but I've seen them over time contribute to an increased spam issue with users, as they try to get a post count up to look like a better poster than one who has perhaps been there longer. Animated avatars are annoying, some I've seen, and images in signatures even more so, as they detract from the post at hand. Sure, it's all opinion, but somebody has to agree with me here.

Hey! Where'd it go?

Ha Ha, right!

So,

Satus Quo for now (SQFN?)

I'm sure there will be some new forum thing that eventually gets implemented.

I am satisfied.
