Notes:
I need some string localized, and some more genral information on Zenmap. At some point, I'll be working on a packaging of Wireshark, so these strings will also be needed for that.
- I'm pretty sure it has been localized, but can anyone who is not a native speaker of english confirm this? If so, how do you get it into your native language?
- I need these two strings localized, after we've confirmed the wording with JTH. If anything is confusing or could be worded better, speak up please.
- LangString LauncherNeedsAdmin ${LANG_ENGLISH} "You need to Administrative rights to install the WinPCap driver for ${APPNAME} to function properly. Please relaunch ${APPNAME} with Administrative rights on this computer."
- LangString InstallPCapDrivcer ${LANG_ENGLISH} "If you want to use ${APPNAME},you will need to install the WinPcap.\nIt will be uninstalled when you exit ${APPNAME}.\n\nDo you want to install WinPcap?"
- I'm sorry about the whole PCap install thing, I know its not "really" portable. But, this is the best way I know how to handle the situation.
- Remember, I need your support if you want to see this on the Applications page!
Release Notes:
Development Test 1 (30JUN09): Initial release
Support Discontinued(Apr 10,2010)- Due to my inability to get around to updating this, I'm dropping it for now. I doubt anyone will notice, but this version seems to be stable by all accounts. You can try posting, but I can't guarantee a response.
OliverK Thanks for this. I've been waiting for a portable zenmap for ages (even tried doing it myself many moons ago!).
I've just run it on my machine and done a simple scan on another machine and everything seems to be ok. I will keep you posted if I have any trouble.
Thanks again for your time and effort.

The Default Data folder is currently named "DefualtData", not "DefaultData".
On WinXP64, ZenMap reports "The system cannot execute the specified program."
The Windows Event Viewer reports "Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\ZenMapPortableExtract\App\Nmap\nmap.exe. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system."
and
"Resolve Partial Assembly failed for Microsoft.VC90.CRT. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system."
and
"Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system."
So I assume some Runtime Libraries need to be installed; this should be mentioned at least in the release notes.
MSVCR90 will need to be included in the manifest - ask the Zenmap team about it. It's due to a side-by-side installation feature with it. Blender is an example of an app which uses that version of the Visual C Runtime, it may be useful.

I agree with Chris' diagnoses about the issue. Also, good catch on the spelling issue. I have trouble with default. Thank God for spell check :D.

Hi OliverK,
I have just seen that NMAP 5.0 is out. Is there an easy way to overwrite the files in this version so that it works with the new NMAP?
Or is it possible for you to update to the new version?
Cheers again for this.

You could possibly just copy the Nmap folder from C:\ProgramFiles\Nmap to App\Nmap, making sure you have zenmap in App\Nmap\zenmap. I will be updating this in the coming weeks.

I had a go at using this today, from the GUI it said:
The system cannot execute the specified program.
I'm guessing this is something to do with permissions or WinPcap?
Any ideas how to resolve this?
Also, can I suggest better error checking aganist this?
Thanks, keep up the good work!
If WinPCap isn't installed, I think that's what you get as a result.
So, the way I would suggest resolving it is installing WinPCap.
I thought that the launcher would have said something. Maybe it doesn't. Anyway when I update this next decade I'll something to that effect.

Hello, can you update with the latest version (7.01) ?
