If your Firefox Portable no longer loads, it may be because you have installed/upgraded Norton NIS to 2010. This installs (whether you want it or not, even in Firefox Portable) 2 Norton extensions (Norton IPS 2.0 and Norton Toolbar 4.0) that are incompatible with several other extensions (such as IE View) and prevent Firefox 3.5.x from even starting. As a solution, you can disable these Norton extensions by first starting Firefox in safe-mode.
Nice to know, although there is another way to solve it...;)

I understand you disdain for NIS but the fact is that you don't choose if the computer you're inserting your USB drive in has NIS 2010 or not. If it does, it WILL disable your Firefox Portable with just one of the several incompatible extensions, even if you didn't have NIS on the computer you used to install Firefox on your flash drive. The Norton extensions are NOT coming from inside your Firefox Portable folder, they're coming from NIS itself.
So be prepared one day to see your beloved Firefox Portable not starting on a host you just met...
Any chance you can zip up the profile's extensions folder and the extensions.* files and send it to us? We may be able to pre-disable them.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
John, I just emailed you a zip file with 1. the extensions folder, 2. the extensions.ini, and 3. the extensions.rdf files from my H:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile folder. I hope that what you needed.
