patience

the thing is...

when you hit a dead end, you are to be inspired to blaze a trail..

be a coder..

of course, i'm hypocritical

but you can be a hacker, which can be like finding some stuff out there and posting it to the forum, making suggestions, etc.

but really, i do appreciate your suggestions and will get on them right away

(heh, i'm not on staff, here, you know)

Its a proprietary font, the same used in mozilla applications. Its been mentioned a couple times, perhaps a search would get you a response better then this one Blum

Technically Illegal

The logos on this site are trademarked, so it would be illegal to get the resources unless you get John's permission.
Did you try uploading the splash screen to WhatTheFont?

Creative Pixels...

But yeah, you have a point. BTW, why are you rephrasing that FOSS philosophy of paying for 1's and 0's?

I am beginning to agree with you

I do see a sort of laziness about the portableapps.com platform and community. They basically have a working menu and a format for people to package their apps so they get incorporated into the menu. And it is free. And GPL (which is cool).

At least i think it is GPL, at least that is one of the criteria for being PAF, isn't it. OK, assuming it is.

So, that's cool. But, why won't they implement email notifications and thread subscriptions?

Why not have a 'resources' section? Is bandwidth really that expensive? I'm sure there are plenty of people willing to help. Is there a money trail we should follow?

it all adds up to something funny

and the most recent updates are

a notepad
an instant messenger
an unzipper/zipper

uh...? hell. pkzip for dos is all i really need... make that pkunzip for dos... you can keep the IM and the notepad, hell, windows unzips by itself now... So What?
(just got through hearing So What, Metallica cover... knowing people can fill in the rest of the lyrics ... "and that's the rest of the story")

uh, anyway, i like PAF and all, but i don't even use it anymore... it is all Opera@USB v. 10 build 1750... it has flaws, but i'm doing fine with it for now.

ahhh, i gotta quit posting, sheesh

I believe John doesn't post the original PSD's of the splashes and stuff because they are trademarked. If I were one of those analytical people, I would say it's like not letting a lion out of its cage in fear that it will eat all of the zebras in Africa. I agree about Opera@USB, but I'm trying to find a web browser that doesn't make so many flash drive writes (SRWare Iron is the only browser that hasn't yet crashed on me yet, which is probably why I'm playing around with it on Linux right now).

And please post more :P. The General Discussion forum is getting cold and musty.

ok, tell me more

1. How can I configure opera to write less?
2. What is this SRWare Iron, and is it USB? Do you have a link?
3. Perhaps we could start a portableapps wiki? or, Is there such a thing?

thanks

i like PAF, but i am disappointed in mozilla, hence, the opera

1. No idea. 2. Go to

1. No idea.
2. Go to SRWare.net, and click software. Under the main download, there is a .zip version for USBs. After 2 weeks later, SRWare Iron slowed, freezed for 5 seconds, and came back alive, so still no crashy.
3. Good idea, but then it would get spammed. We would have to do some kind of validation system (e.g. at least 4 really useful posts).

3. Sort of an elitist group? Smile I'll do some investigation.

Drupal is the one without those problems.

Yes, BW actually does cost a lot, for the server this site is on that is.

Meh, try searching for the guerrilla guide. Alot of the newer developer learned by hacking at the source code included in every portableapp.
