I'm loving firefox portable but the one thing that has been annoying me is that the spell checker seems to forget what words I put into it.
For instance, being Australian, I use (a lot!) 'ise' words instead of 'ize' words as in: 'realise' instead of USA's 'realize'. Every time I switch a computer, even one I have been to before, I need to 'correct' my spelling.
Why would it saving the spell checker to places that it forgets between computers?
When I used to use Firefox Portable (now I just use Firefox here on my laptop), with the English (Australian) Dictionary installed, I didn't have any problem like that. Just to make sure that we're all on the same page, have you installed this addon into Firefox Portable? If you have, then it definitely shouldn't be happening.

On that note -- didn't want to make a dedicated topic to it, but at the same time, not trying to hijack yours (entirely) -- what is the difference between Australian and British English?
Also, I'd like a dictionary which has both American and British/Australian English. Every now and then, I accidentally toss a "U" in a word (like colour, honour, etc.) or use -ise instead of -ize. Just habits picked up from reading posts and articles written by non-American English writers. And it's not incorrect, so I don't bother changing it. I suppose I could just add the words to my en-US dictionary, but it would be nice if it were covered already.
Australian is more versatile... no there shouldn't be much difference except Australian used to contain words that aren't in most English dictionaries --- not sure that they do now.
There is also the problem that modern Australian is morphing away from English to USAian.
No, I didn't have that dictionary. However, what happens when I have a word not in either dictionaries? P-FF isn't keeping them.
Dictionary not compatible, no upgrade.
Do those computers that you visit also have FF installed?
I'm wondering if the settings of the installed copy could conflict with the settings of the portable one.
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
I'll check to see if it makes a difference if FF is locally installed. My thoughts are that it doesn't.
