Just wanted to update everybody with a status update. The switch of the apps from Portable AppName to AppName Portable is nearly complete. I used the opportunity to add in new features (like Live CD support and in-place upgrades) to every app as they were being worked on. The last 2 apps are Gaim and OpenOffice.org. They're both in pre-release now. Since Gaim Portable 2.0 B3.1 seems solid, I'll be releasing that later today or tomorrow. I'd like a few more people to test out OpenOffice.org Portable 2.0.3 before I release it, especially people with Windows 2000 boxes. So, I think I'm going to shoot for releasing on Monday or Tuesday for that.
I'll be posting some bug fixes for some of the other apps like Firefox and Thunderbird in the next day or two as well. There are some issues that affect Unicode commandline parameters, custom INI setups and Live CD compatibility with Windows 9x that I'd like to get in before the next release of the suite. I'll post these as new updates with just a single front-page announcement. I'll post patches for those that already have the current version so you can just download a couple hundred kilobyte patch rather than having to install a new version.
The Portable Apps Suite is nearing completion. I'll be posting test versions of the Backup and Sync utilities today or tomorrow and the menu soon after. I'm shooting for a Tuesday or Wednesday release next week barring any unforseen issues.
Also, on a personal note, I'm sorry if I'm a bit off in my postings. My aunt died unexpectedly yesterday morning, so I am a bit distracted. I'll be offline for part of Friday, Saturday and Sunday while I attend the funeral and visit with relatives.
Regards,
John

My thoughts are with you John. Family should always take precedence.
The community as a whole will more than understand as we all appreciate what you are going through.
Your great contributions can wait as long as you deem necessary, if not longer.
