I'm trying (and failing miserably) to make Sharp-E portable. I noticed that there is no "quit" or "exit" button on the program. I have no experience in making stuff make stuff close and I was wondering if anyone knew how to use NSIS (or whatever language you use) to make an executable to exit out of this program.
In the system tray you should see an icon (blue cube) that you can right click and select "Shutdown SharpE". If you need any help in making this portable I can help and make changes to SharpE if necessary.
Once you go portable...
I see the icon as soon as I click on SharpCore and then it loads with the fancy stuff and then I can't see it anymore. I also see a taskbar but it doesn't show the running applications. (i'm using the latest beta version by the way).
When you boot into SharpE it should look similar to the image in the link below. Could you provide a screenshot of what you are refering to? Is explorer still set as the default shell when run SharpCore? and if so is it explorer still running or did you kill it?

explorer doesn't die (i don't think). I just open SharpCore and the screen flickers and a blue cube pops up on the system tray and then the splash appears and then the screen freezes and then the mouse changes and then the background appears and then the task bar goes away and the the two bars on top and bottom appear and then its done. I can't see any open windows on the task bar on sharpe and I can only navigate through them with alt+tab. I'll send you a screen shot soon.
EDIT: I quit SharpE by restarting the computer (with my flash drive stil in there) but it still starts sharpE. only after I restart and take out my flash drive when its off, does it start explorer. Explorer tries to load the wallpaper from SharpE, though.
Also note that I haven't modified anything when I first encountered this problem. Your skin and wallpaper are different.
you don't wanna kill an application via nsis. it messes with data being saved, etc. Though there may be a switch that you can use to make it exit. I don't know.

well how about making the exe save the data and then close the app? now wouldn't that be something?.
if it saves before you kill, that would be fine. That's a /exit switch on the command line. I think CAFEMod supported it.
