Subject pretty much says it all. I was wondering what the general state of U3 is/was. It never really seemed to take off from what I could tell. The idea was a good one, the implementation was poor. Whenever I got a flash drive with it on, I uninstalled it immediately.
I'm wondering if PA.c has had a large impact (in a positive way) on the seemingly inevitable demise of U3.

The platform itself is probably dead, but the virtual CD drive can be useful to inject a bootable ISO on it and easily install an OS on a netbook for example.
Yep, it's crazy dead.
But a lot of contributors are still posting their u3 app releases...
Firefox for u3 is still in it's 2.0.0.* series, which is sad
The app was sold off to Microsoft 2 or 3 yrs ago and MS hasn't done much with it so far.

I am using U3 right now, and ironically I saw this thread because I am looking for an alternative to it. I've used it for almost 4 years now, so I think it most likely is.
Well your alternative is right here at PortableApps.com
