I had been running T3 Beta's very successfully ever since it was released on Portable apps. I upgraded to T3B4 as soon as it was available and it worked great. Had profile-malfunction last week that eventually dictated a clean install of T3B4. Immediately noticed that it ran very sluggish, taking 3-5 seconds to show an email as selected once clicked and taking as much as 15 seconds to display or delete an email. Copied over all emails from the previous profiles with no change. I have disabled the 'spell check as you type' option, disabled indexing, disabled HTML composition, deleted all .msf files, localstore.rdf the XUL.mfl file and compacted several times to no effect. I've started in safe mode with no difference in performance. The USB drive appears and checks OK. Any idea why a clean install would act like this and recommendations what I can do? Thanks in advance.
OK, this appears to be SOLVED. I did everything noted above, but stopped short of a new installation (I'm a bit of a 'got to know why' personality), but the problem with the sluggishness remained. In my case, I defragmented the USB drive (64GB Luxio), which took 14 hours, but that seems to have resolved it. So the problem appears to be on my end and not Thunderbird 3. I have no idea why a new installation would have been so defragged, but apparently it was. Just wanted to let everyone know.
