ClamWin: Settings Lost on Upgrade to 0.95.3

Upgraded CWP from 0.95.2 to 0.95.3 using in place upgrade [install over old version]

Previous Settings were lost
[i.e., Filters (files extensions to ignore), and
UNchecked "Unload Infected Programs from Computer Memory" (a risky default setting in cases of FPs]

Basically, ClamWin.conf in /data/settings was deleted.

Can't Reproduce

I just installed 0.95.2, changed it to uncheck unload infected programs, closed, installed 0.95.3, started it up... and the setting was preserved.

The installer doesn't touch anything in Data\settings.

Are you doing anything odd settings-wise? Using the ClamWinPortable.ini? Launching it from something else?

Strange

Are you doing anything odd settings-wise?

Not that I am aware of.

The only thing I usually do is set it to not check certain file types and turn off the Unload Infected Programs from Computer Memory.

I checked the presence of ClamWin.conf just moments before the upgrade and it was there.

I don't use ClamWinPortable.ini at all.

I do have a long path but I don't think that should be a problem:

C:\Documents and Settings\tclark\My Documents\00-Danger-DwnLd-Transport\PORTABLE\Emergency\ClamWinPortable\Data\settings

I am launching it (the program, not the installer) from a shortcut
["C:\Documents and Settings\tclark\My Documents\00-Danger-DwnLd-Transport\PORTABLE\Emergency\ClamWinPortable\ClamWinPortable.exe]
but again I don't see that as a problem, as the program runs fine once I reset things again.

And the installer is being run from the HD to the app location on the harddrive.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

After Install

Try redoing the install over your current one. After install, the ClamWin.conf should still be in Data\settings before you run it. Is it?

Also, I seem to recall you specifically having this issue with the last update and no one else being able to reproduce it then either.

Done

Did the reinstall in place as before.

ClamWin.conf remains
Settings were maintained.

Very strange,
Thanks John for your attention.

Déja vu!

Hmmm, I've seen that before. Oh right, here it is.
I haven't tested the new release, but maybe it has the same issue.

JTHThe installer doesn't touch anything in Data\settings.

Right, but the launcher deletes that file in Data\settings (at least in previous versions).

Bad Shutdown

The only time this would happen is if you had a system crash (leaving the configuration files within App and not moving back) and then did an upgrade.

The post you linked was a unique situation because the config file was inadvertently included in App\ClamWin\bin in that particular release. It is not included in this release, so it doesn't do that.
