is there anyway that PortableApps.com can develop a portable text to speech application, that can support 800 by 600 pixels, uses Microsoft Sam or any installed default voice on the PC, and that can read from the clipboard, when you copy text from Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome by using the copy command or Ctrl+C, it can read it aloud?
I've tried DSpeech, yes it is portable, but useless for my father, who has bad eyesight, who requires a resolution of 800 by 600 pixels, and DSpeech only supports 1024 by 768 pixel and more, which is too small for my father's eyesight.
I've tried using DSpeech on 800 by 600 pixels, but it is useless, because the controls for the program cannot be accessed, and the application windows doesn't compact to fit a resolution of 800 by 600 pixels.
If anyone knows a good free text to speech program, please post it, thank you...
was something I was playing with long time ago. Dont know if this would work today , but when java is operational, it could work.

thank you Otto, after searching for more information on OpenMary, I found this discussion: https://portableapps.com/node/10198
The MARY Text-to-Speech System requires Java Runtime Environment to run, and they discussed about the possibility of a Portable Java, which is now available (https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/java_portable), so I will now request that MARY Text-to-Speech System to be portable, thank you Otto...
I think I found a TTS program that was just a small EXE. If I can find it again, I'll post it up here.
thanks, please do, thank you...
Hi,
you can use program called "Balabolka", it's work on the resolution you need and it's stay also portable version here it's the link :
http://www.cross-plus-a.com/balabolka.htm
but do I have to install a "voice"??
not that I mind, per sa, but doesn't that make it Not portable?
it says "Balabolka uses various versions of Microsoft Speech API (SAPI)"
I have no experience with this at all. educate me, please

Yes you need to install the voices, it's the same for DSpeech.
say I want:
American English
British English
I install those exe files and then I can pick one or the other in the Balabolka program?
this really doesn't make it entirely portable. not that I mind personally because i doubt I'd use this on someone else's computer.
thanks

yes all the text to speech programs are not full portable, because the "voices" are windows compnent, that need to be installed on computer.
Balabolka works well Undintel, and thank you for sharing this program with me, but it's difficult to use, since you have to press "Read Clipboard" every time you copy text from a web browser, unless there is a way to automate Balabolka to read clipboard automatically...
Balabolka's most recent version impressed me as very good. It's excellence showed me how I got screwed on a TTS program I had just bought. And that program was not portable. If you are going to have to spend money for TTS. You are going to only need to spend it for quality voices. Balabolka has it going on!! By the way, I use it to create wav files for my alerts in the PortableApp PNotes. PNotes upcoming version 6 allows individual alerts for notes. I have different medicatons all day thru. PNotes has just provided me with the greatest Medication Alarm clock ever.
Yes, we all get to wait see...
