Got an app ready to go, but need hosting

Well, I've got an app all ready to go... GPL, packaged in Portable Apps Format... only problem is, I need some hosting. I have Development Test 1 on my USB drive as I type this, but I don't have a place to go with it... could anybody help me out? Smile

Thanks!

Dropbox

Good choices:
Dropbox (dropbox.com)
MediaFire (Ads, mediafire.com)
I myself use Dropbox's public folder, which does a great ad-free job, comparable to how Patrick's server works (I lost the login when he moved though).

Thanks, I'll check out

Thanks, I'll check out Dropbox.
I've seen a lot of illegal apps on MediaFire, so I'll stay away from that if I can... I prefer a site with a higher reputation. Wink
EDIT 2: How ironic, with dropbox out of the running (see below), MediaFire looks like it'll be the site I use...

EDIT: uh oh, Dropbox apparently needs me to download some software to use it??
I have a different idea, I'll try it out later today...

Dropbox doesn't require you

Dropbox doesn't require you to use the app. It's useful but not necessary. And if you plan to have your app open source, check out sourceforge!

No Download

It's highly recommended to download it (for the awesome syncyness) but if you do that and the other 5 things under Getting Started you get an extra 250 mb of space.

They both go to https://www.dropbox.com/

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?

Lawsuit

A couple of weeks ago Everflow (the creator of Dropbox) sued the guy that owned dropbox.com and won the domain. So now they're trying to move it over to dropbox.com

Thanks anyway, Bensawsome,

Thanks anyway, Bensawsome, but I just uploaded it to MediaFire... maybe I'll look at DropBox later, but for now I'm just happy to get it up. Wink

Thanks again!

If you're the owner of this project, use Sourceforge or google Code to create a project and upload your installer for eeveryone. Otherwise, use Mediafire, the best hosting service I know.

I'm the owner & sole

I'm the owner & sole developer of the project, but I can't use SourceForge - I'm under 18, and their terms explicitly require me to be 18 or older. Sad
MediaFire takes this one; I'll put up my post in a few minutes.

EDIT: post up: https://portableapps.com/node/21474

This is my first ever PA.c release, so please be rough with it (yes, that's right, please be rough with it) - the minor PAF details might not be quite right.

I can give you FTP hosting as

I can give you FTP hosting as a mirror. Its not up 100% of the time, probably around 97% is fair, but its pretty fast. Just get in contact with me by my site or some other way, (the IRC folks know many ways to find me) and I'll hook you up.

Lead, Follow, or get out of the way.

Thanks for the offer,

Thanks for the offer, alpha1!
I'm already set up with MediaFire, though, and I like it... for now, I'll be sticking with that.
Simplicity (i.e. finding one place and staying with it) is good, especially during the school year... Wink

Thanks anyway, though!

NOOOO!!! Use

NOOOO!!!

Use x10hosting.com

It's the best hosting for web sites you could EVER find! Supports co.cc domains and EXE hosting (as long as you created the EXE).

Only catch is that you have to LOG IN (NOT POST!!!) into their forum every two weeks for them to make sure that you're an active user.

Note: FORUM, not site, not control panel.

P.S. It uses the cPanel, on most web hosts, you have to pay for that Blum

Thanks anyway, but I'm going

Thanks anyway, but I'm going to stick with MediaFire... it's got everything I need (at least for now), and the 2-week login thing could be bad as I'm already busy with school - I don't want to end up forgetting and having people want to know where my files went. Wink

Thanks again, though!
