"All your cookies and other data is self-contained on your portable device" - where exactly are cookies located on the portable device? Suppose we did not choose the option 'delete cookies when Firefox exits," then where to go to manually remove them? Also, what about the temporary files open in the portable Firefox? Are they save on the portable device (where?), or in the System's Local Settings folder, or not saved at all? Thanks

They are saved in your firefox profile on your usb drive. The default location is X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\ (I don't recall the exact file/folder names now).
Thanks. There are four folders: Chrome, Minidumps, Extensions, Bookmarkbackups - I could not find cookies or temp files in these folders or sub-folders so far...

or
[x]:\YourPath\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\cookies.sqlite
If you do not want to use the FF interface or an Addon/extension you can not delete individual cookies manually, you would have delete the whole file.

OK. Thanks. I found sqlite file. As I understand, cookies are not stored separately (as I could find them, for example, using IE6 in cookies/temp folders) but saved together in a sort of mini database file?
By temporary files I mean those I open visiting the Web. For example, Word files I open etc. When I open a Word file from the Web in AbiWord, is it saved locally on the system or in some form on the USB drive? Again, I can find them in the temp folder when using IE. Are they also consolidated in one database file on USB? - this one I could not see yet...

Most temporary files, pages, images, etc should be in:
[x]:\YourPath\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile\Cache
Do you not have that directory?
I make no statements or promises concerning files used by helper apps [Word, AbiWord, etc, or whatever] that is beyond my scope.

[Edit: the above answer is based on your having a cache in the first place, if FFP is set to not have a disk cache [i.e. it is set to "0"] which I believe is the default, you may not have that folder, stuff just goes, poof

Yes, I don't have Cache folder. As I understand from your last comment, it does not mean that my installation has a problem...I noticed also noticed downloads.sqlite file in the Profile - maybe downloaded stuff goes there...
They are stored in the system's temp file. When you close Firefox, they are deleted (unless locked because they are still open).

Well, if they are deleted from the system (and not shredded), they can be recovered as I understand. This seems to contradict the statement (in FAQ I believe) that browsing leaves no traces and nothing can be restored even with 'undelete' software... unless I miss something.
Firefox, like many programs, needs to keep things it temporarily downloads and hands off somewhere. And that's temp. Firefox itself deletes them when it closes, so they can't then be shredded. There is no way to change this behavior. Even if you shred the entire TEMP folder after closing Firefox, it still won't shred the files that were in it that are now deleted. You'd have to shred all free space on the local hard drive (which is not a fast process).
This is not something new. It's well known and well-documented. It is mentioned and linked to right on the Firefox Portable homepage:

An upcoming platform release will let you keep your temp directory on your flash drive (though this will slow things down a lot while you are downloading something to open in Firefox).

I'm using cookie culler to protect cookies then copying the cookies.sqlite file to different profiles and some are not keeping logins on the other profiles.
