installing alternate applications on the platform

I have been installing non portable apps to be operated on flash drives for over a year. so using what i already know,i installed video games, browsers, and even citrix wire! So after i installed them, the platform automatically places icons for the new apps installed into the platform memory. From the platform, you can access and operate them like you can with the other apps. No need to creat custom short cuts or anything because the platform does it for you. How does one go about installing alternate apps? Simply copy the entire progam file and place into the mobile apps folder along with the other apps downloaded from here. the only thing you want to do is erase the uninstall.exe file from the program because that will show up on the main platform. Since you are just copying a file,to remove the file is the same as removing any other app. just delete it. deleting the uninstall.exe does not affect the porformance of the new app.All it does is remove it from the platform's list. Citrix is a gnutella client but unfortunately,it may not download music files on a host computer due to firewalls and security on the host computer. but never the less citrix does actually operate.dx ball3,jardinains 2,snood,etc all work on the platform so I would think that if you can operate any program on a flash drive, then it's highly likely other programs will work as well. thanx alot for this great program y'all. Feel free to write me at darkness2fall@hotmail.com

Installing Alternate Applications

Well, I placed Anim8or executable file into the Applications folder. I can use it but it does not show on the menu. This file has exe extensions. I think the 'menu recognizable' applications should nave paf extension (or something like that)? Am I right?

Any executable (including

Any executable (including useless ones like uninstallers) will show up if you put it in the proper directory structure:

\PortableApps\[AppName]\App.exe

I'm assuming you dropped it straight in the PortableApps folder?

about the apps folder.

you are correct. for example i copied opera@usb,citrix wire, and dx ball into the portable apps folder. i noticed that the platform automatically puts it into the main menu. for example,if you drag and drop limewire into the portable apps folder, and then go back to the platform screen,it will have limewire on the list as well as any exe. program thats associated with it. deleting the uninstall exe. file removes it from the list. the platform only creates shortcuts to exe. files. my file structure looks like this: travel drive/mobile apps/portable apps. drop the folder into portable apps and delete the uninstall exe. files in the program folder

Adding non-paf executables to the menu

Yes, you are right. I just dropped it into the PortableApps folder. Now, I followed your suggestion and created a separate folder for Anim8or inside the PortableApps folder. Then I dropped the exe file there. Now it's added to the menu. Thanks.

about the menu

Any exe. file should show up on the platform regardless of whether or not it had the paf. or not. the platform automatically displays all exe suffixes and thus creates shortcuts to those programs on the menu regardless if it is in paf.exe. format or not. i just has to have exe. on the end Wink

Non-exe files

Is it possible to link to non-exe files on the menu? For example I have a stored set of remote desktop settings that when you click on them on a windows machine automatically connect you to a computer. I can put the file on my usb stick in it's own directory under portableapps, but the extension is .rdp not .exe so it doesn't show on the menu. Is there any way to get the menu to show the file?
