I don't use a custom theme, but may I suggest to maybe make the Ubuntu name behind the application name less dark? This is a readability problem ..
The readability problem is fixed when you hover over the application of your choice.
But, you're right, maybe I should make it grey...
Looks a lot better now.

here's my latest.
The background picture on the menu looks kinda stretched out, but otherwise, nice theme!
Now do a Portal or Team Fortress one.
