Libertà Release: PUSS 1.0 RC2

Well here it is , RC2. This version has a completely revamped interface, as well as a completely new encryption system (initially for Secure) and a VAST clean up of the code.

You can get it here:

www.sourceforge.net/projects/liberta

Please post any comments below, as well as bugs and feature requests.

Steve

P.S. Could someone do a comparison of the speed of the secure bit and any thing else that you might be using, thanks.

The Sync part is very fast

The Sync part is very fast both when doing copying and updating. Updating is extremely fast and I only object to the error message that appears for the files that couldn't be updated because they wasn't a newer version of the file to copy over. This might confuse new users thinking that nothing was synced when in fact everything but those files was synced. I was wondering if you had a folder and pointed a .zip or .7z to be updated would the files within the .zip or .7z be able to be updated?

The Backup part is very fast for both .zip and .7z.

The Secure part went very fast on a 72.4 MB folder full of AIM Logs. It was much much slower than running the Backup or Sync part of PUSS on the same folder. But everything else on my computer ran smoothly through it although it did take it a while. PUSS.exe was taking about 40-60% CPU usage while burp.exe would be less than 10%.

One last thing is the file paths are not remembered which kind of destroys the purpose of categories.

Ooops

Typical I'll fix that (the categories), remove the error message and do a final release on Monday. Thanks for all the feedback.

So can I do what I said

So can I do what I said about updating a .7z or .zip with the current release?

So I'm assuming it updates,

So I'm assuming it updates, and doesn't write over everything that exists in there.

Correct,

do you think I would be better off calling it 'Backup (Update)' sans quotes ? Or even 'Update Backup'

Here are a few suggestions...

1. Being nitpicky but, with the 'performing operation' popup window which comes up when backing up, is there a way for this to be integrated into the app itself? ie. this screen is actually part of the app vs. a popup. I mention this because if i click out of the PUSS program, when i click back into the program, the 'performing operation' popup window is no longer there and it only comes up with the settings window. Not sure if this is clear Blum

The reason i mention this is as i backup a 2gb stick, it takes quite a long time, and as there is no progress meter, it seems as if it is locked up.

2. A cancel button, progress meter and a operation finished prompt may also be handy!

3. Is there a way to link the category with the source/destination? ie. category name USBbackup linked to X:\usbdrive?

4. Is it possible for the naming section to have a prefix + date option automatically? ie. usb_090906 instead of just date.

5. Also, when i hit alt+tab, the PUSS icon is not there, insted it is a icon of a window. Any possiblity to have the PUSS icon showing?

Otherwise, great work... Smile

Right then,

1. Yep, I think that it's possible, you might find that its stays popped up in the Secure bit at the moment.

2. You might have to wait for 1.1 Sad

3. It was in RC1, fogot to put it in RC2, it'll be in the final release.

4. 1.1

5. Interesting I'll have a look at that.
