AVG Antivirus reports downloader.zlob.djw trojan in openofficeportable.exe

AVG Antivirus reports downloader.zlob.djw trojan in openofficeportable.exe. AVG site notes they have added the new definition to their sniffer. Any information?

Search First

As usual, it's an issue with AVG.

Say it with me... it's a false positive. I will calm down. I will ask my antivirus vendor to fix their problem. I won't post new forum topics when this has been covered in two other ones posted in the last 2 hours.

John, I see how that can be

John, I see how that can be irritating but ..., I looked thru the forum prior to posting and found nothing and even now a search of downloader.zlob.djw gets two hits, mine and one from August.

More importantly, a search for zlob gets 0 hits. Which is what I tried earlier.

Oh, note to other AVG users. Heal means 'delete the file'. Annoying, though better with a portable app than with a typical windows install.

'trojan'

Usually a search on trojan or virus will find these issues quickly. People don't usually post what it is. Since I got yet another forum post after yours, I stickied an announcement about it:
https://portableapps.com/node/2939

This happens pretty consistently with AntiVir and Avast as well. I've come to the conclusion that free antivirus programs are one of the banes of my existence.

I figure people probably go

I figure people probably go direct to the forum for their offended app, so I doubt many will see your sticky. The only cure for the email I can figure is filters.

And I'm using the paid version of AVG, not that it seems to matter.

More problematic was that it seems to messing up the launchers (I lost NVU also). The files existed but wouldn't work, even though I told it to Ignore. Finally turned off Resident Shield. Turns out that AVG won't allow you to run the program at all with Resident Shield on.
