if you are using it just for yourself, and not distributing, you can usually just copy the program files (unless it is a purchased peice of software) into the portable apps folder. you may need to dlete axtra .exe files but don't do this if they are important. for example, windows media player. copy the program files, then delete extra .exe files like wmpshare.exe. usually it will work without extra programs.
That's not usually portable - apps "portabilized" in this way generally write to the Registry regardless of the file move, which makes them non-portable. True portable apps, such as the official releases here, don't leave any settings on the host PC.
