I recently upgraded to Thunderbird 3.0. When I restarted Thunderbird, it froze and slowed to a halt when trying to index. I restored my settings to a day earlier. However, when I try to open Thunderbird it does not work. It looks as if it is trying but nothing ever appears.
I would like to get my old settings, addresses and messages but I don't know how.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you,
R

Best idea is to let it index. Indexing makes it really fast.
Anyway, if you go to {Drive}\PortableApps\ThunderBirdPortable\Data\profile, and there's stuff there, that's your info. Try installing Thunderbird again (okay if you install it over, it only delete the app files, not the data files :)).
Also, if you still feel that TB is slow, it's also a good idea to set your cache to 0 (Tools -> Options -> Network & Disk Space -> Disk Space -> Set to 0).
Good luck.
Insert original signature here with Greasemonkey Script.
If you restored your settings from a TB2.0 backup, then I would recommend restoring the entire thing and re-installing the TB3.0 upgrade again, since this will set the appropriate flags for the app to update/upgrade the settings it needs to adjust as it runs for the first time.
And yes, indexing for the first time can take quite a while (potentially hours). If the CPU is busy running it, just leave it be until it has finished.
