Puppy Linux: My First Distro

Hello. Like you Puppy was my first linux OS Well the first one I got to work that is... hehe anyhoo The first one I Wonted to try was DSL But As I did Research on DSL I learned that DSL is designed to run on fast machines! Faster then what I had at the time (AMD 550MHZ K6)Which I Still have by the way Puppys on it now, and it runs Super Spiffy! It gives my AMD 2.10GHZ A run for the Money yes in deedy.

Metropipe`s Portable Virtual Privacy Machine runs QEMU to but its DSL aka Damn Small Linux instead of Puppy. I haveint run VPM in sometime but when I did it had No apps in it just there Corp Privacy program, and all that is is TOR The onion router Modded into IE also it costs $99.00 Buck a Roos for the full ver. Also On Thar site thy say That it goes faster now the only way that is possible is if their using KQEMU Which is good/bad...Good because it goes a lot faster. Bad because it leaves a mess behind on the machines that you use it on!

Although kqemu is an improvement over plain QEMU-Puppy, I didn't include it. For 3 reasons:

1* You need administrator rights in order to be able to load the kqemu module. (Okay, it's not impossible to load the module if possible.)
2* By loading the kqemu module, you pollute the host machine. Even worse, you pollute its kernel, on a very low level. One of the base principles of QEMU-Puppy is to return the host machine unaffected.
3* The license doesn't allow me to distribute kqemu along with QEMU-Puppy"

Not so much /fast/ machine as simply needs 256MB RAM for optimal running on 'just about anything'. I've tried Grafpup also and, while the feature set is nice.. it doesn't seem to be really a 'stand-alone' like Puppy 2.11 (which to my somewhat inexperienced eyes leaves /no/ traces behind as far as I can tell;). LiveCD or better yet DVD is the way to go if you like the Pup, getting into it's just a REboot away

Papp is just a 4-character 'word' that seems to work for me, PA is a two-letter abbreviation for Pennsylvania here in the USA:D
