Can anyone help? I could not get on with Tbird 3 and decided to go back to V2 ( I downloaded V2.0.0.23 portable) I understood that i should uninstall V3 and download and install V2 and that my emails would be kept in profile. I have now installed V2 but cannot find my emails. Can anyone help me to retreive them or have they gone down the tubes? If i cannot get these back is it possibe to find the email addresses of the senders in my old inbox? Sounds like a tall order to me but maybe someone outhere has an idea.
Hope you can help.
Best Regards
Griff
I have found the emails in Profiles/Local folders but they are scrambled in code. Is there a way to get these back into TBird portable ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Lost Emails
I recently went through moving from TBird2 to Portable TBird3. The way to manually move your old email to new, in short, is to copy the old folder for each account to the new location, then point the new email account to it.
In more detail: The old account will be a folder under the old location such as:
D:\Documents and Settings\you\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\erqgmti0.default\
Copy the account folder to the new location which will be something like:
F:\PortableApps\Thunderbird\Data\profile\Mail\
Then start up the new TBird, create the new account, and in the Account Settings - Server Settings, there is a button to allow you to Browse to the "Local directory" and select the account folder you moved. Then save this and promptly exit and restart TBird.
It should then find, open, and index the account folder. Additional details and cleanup, such as finishing setting up the incoming and outgoing service can then be completed for the account. You should probably also watch for the new folders created for you as you create this new account. After you point TBird to the copied account, you can delete the old folders.
TBird 3 seems pretty good to me after I tripped over the same problem others have that it starts up showing the new Smart Folders view. Note that the folders are same as they were, this is just a "view" that can be switched via the teeny, obscure little direction arrows in the bar above the folders, or via the menu using View - Folders. Switch that view back to "All Folders" and things look familiar.

Thanks for your help, but i seem to have failed miserably on this one having tried your suggestions and those of others,so i don't know which way to go. Maybe i will give up unless there is another way forward.
Thanks again

Was this Thunderbird Portable 2 that you upgraded to Thunderbird Portable 3? If so, how did you uninstall? Uninstalling via the menu removes the app and the data as the warning states.
