ah... no, XChat is still opensource, It is only pay ware for the official windows compile, anyone is still free to download it and use it on any operating system they fancy.
The Windows build is payware and includes GPL violations since it combines closed source payware with open source from other contributors. Most of the source is available, but you're not allowed to call it XChat if you build it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
