It would be nice to have a portable desktop similar to windows desktop so that users can switch to this desktop when using the portable apps. It will bring a more familiar workspace, with a preferred desktop wall paper.

There is already a wallpaper swapper built into the PortableApps.com Platform:

And the 2.0 beta has the ability to hide the current desktop icons:

The ability to have your own icons on the desktop will come in a later release.
