ASuite 1.1

ASuite is a launcher with a menu trayicon. It is developed to be performed on any support (except CD), Hard Disk, pen Drive, IPod and other supports.

ASuite uses relative paths for software positioned in its same folder and subfolder, this allows to run software portable, that is those programs that need not to to be installed to work.

ASuite is a software perfectly working on portable support, Pen Drive, Ipod, ecc...
In fact it weights approximately 400KB and it uses file Asuite.xml for its list and its options, without to damage the guest computer.
This allows you to always carry with you your favorite software and your documents and to have, through ASuite, a comfortable menu.

Great Alternative

It seems like a very nice alternative to PStart. I really like the recently run feature in the popup menu. Keep us informed of ASuite's progress!

Source Code?

I did not see a link to the source code on the page you mentioned. If this is closed source (and this appears to be), then you are making a self-promotional posting which is not permitted on this site.

It is clearly explained in the Forum Guidelines and, right at the top of the page you made this post on, it says "The forums allow all registered users to post about topics related to portable apps. Please remember that, as with all areas of this site, self-promotional posts are not permitted."

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Now, ASuite is open source (GPL). You can download source code (and software) from http://sourceforge.net/projects/asuite/

Two problems: 1. DOS

Two problems:
1. DOS executables aren't launched properly. I have no idea why.
2. The translation is a bit off. Try to find someone who can translate it instead of using an automatic translator.

1 I tried some dos executables and they worked properly. Could you tell me the software name you tried?
2 I don't use an automatic translator. I'm Italian and my english (unfortunately) isn't the best.

Source Code?

I did not find a link to PortableAppsMenu source neither. Or maybe you could think of a way of using a kind of Languages.ini files.
Tell me if you want me to work on a "francais.ini" file...

Great app....

At first I was using Pstart, then changed to a dock (aqua dock, but got tired of it really fast), now I'm using your app, and it works great. I like the fact that it's the open source version of PStart. And being that it's open source, I was wondering if you or someone else could make a few additions to it. Here are my recomendations:

1. Be able to execute a program when exiting Asuite (like in PStart)
2. Be able to pull up the menu from different parts of the screen (edge or corner)
3. Aqua Dock had a feature that I liked (although every time I used it at work, aqua dock would crash): if I clicked and held on a folder's icon(or shortcut of a folder) it would pull up the contents of that folder as a menu.
4. integrate the Windows "start menu" to it. Aqua Dock has a dll that is able to do this.
5. Also, there is a cmd.exe alternative called NirCmd (freeware from www.nirsoft.net). it has a few features in it to be able to logoff, shut down, turn off monitor, lock computer, and a lot more. I've placed this program on your menu to be able to do these tasks. I want to be able to control the whole computer, not just portable programs, from Asuite.

I know this is a lot to ask from you (Salvador), that's why I'm asking for anybody who can do it as an addon. I would be more than happy to do it, if I just knew how to. Thanks.

1. Be able to execute a program when exiting Asuite (like in PStart)
I will add it in ASuite 1.3.1 (release date December).

2. Be able to pull up the menu from different parts of the screen (edge or corner)
Like winamp?

3. Aqua Dock had a feature that I liked (although every time I used it at work, aqua dock would crash): if I clicked and held on a folder's icon(or shortcut of a folder) it would pull up the contents of that folder as a menu.
It is an interesting function. I will try add it in ASuite 1.4.

4. integrate the Windows "start menu" to it. Aqua Dock has a dll that is able to do this.
I am trying Aqua Dock, but I can't use this function successfully.

Can you try software's parameters (nircmd use it) in ASuite?

Oops, did I say AquaDock,

I ment YzDock (It turns out that Aqua is a reshacked version of Yz, there for illegal).

1. Thanks
2. I've never used winamp before (never liked it), but Pstart has this feature.
3. Thanks
4. I dont know why you where not able to do this. You put the dll file inside the docklets folder. Then you add it as a docklet (right click on the dock to do this) You can take a look at it here.
Also, now that I'm in the mood for requesting stuff, how about being able to drag-n-drop files into a folder in ASuite?
5. Yes, I am able to pass the command parameters to NirCmd from ASuite

Note:

YzDock is illegal. Apple shut them down because YzDock was too close to theirs.

I believe that the 3rd point refers to PStarts ability to display a menu when you right or left click (configurable) on either the corner of the screen (which corner(s) is configurable), or on the side of the screen (again, which side is configurable).

Maybe you are thinking about the "magnetic effect" when the form is near the edges of the desktop.

This docklet opens menu start, right?

#2 is what pfeerick said (I

#2 is what pfeerick said (I think he ment to say point 2 instead of 3). And the docklet opens the start menu where all the programs are at, the only thing "cool" about this docklet is that it opens the menu from wherever the docklet is at. So lets say you put both of these features on your next release; I don't want to go to the bottom of my screen to click on Asuite or START. All I have to do is go to the closest edge of my screen, the ASuite icon appears and I click it. Now I have my portable apps menu as well as the "START" menu.

There's something wrong

every time I plug in my drive and launch ASuite, the icons of my apps change. everything runs like normal, but the icons are not the correct ones. Any idea as to why? Also, the "run when ASuite exits" option does not work with some programs.

The icons that get changed

The icons that get changed vary every time, different apps and different icons. I hope you can see this image. As for the programs that are not running, well, they're not really programs. They are shortcuts of NirCmd with "closeprocess app.exe" at the end of the "target" box. I also have CCleaner setup to launch when ASuite exits, and that works fine, but not the shortcuts.

For icons, you try to disable function cache (options->advanced->other functions) and restart ASuite.

For programs, I tried Thunderbird (with parameter -p for Profile Manager) and ASuite run it properly. Tomorrow, I will try nircmd and other programs.
