Lightning and TB3

I read on Make Use Of that the latest Lightning works in TB3. It installs without complaint but when it starts up I get an error dialog box and

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8052000b (NS_ERROR_FILE_CORRUPTED) [mozIStorageService.openSpecialDatabase]" nsresult: "0x8052000b (NS_ERROR_FILE_CORRUPTED)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/PortableApps2/ThunderbirdPortable/Data/profile/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/modules/calUtils.jsm -> file:///C:/PortableApps2/ThunderbirdPortable/Data/profile/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/calendar-js/calStorageCalendar.js :: anonymous :: line 196" data: no]

The files exist in the proper places and do not look corrupt.

Anyone else using Lightning? Know of a fix or workaround?

Did you rename the path? If so, it'll break your extensions.

TBP must be installed to a path and configured, then only the drive letter may change.

path rename fix

OK, that is probably it. I tried doing search and replace in prefs.js (which indeed showed the old path), offline so it would not get overwritten, and panacea. That didn't fix it. Then I installed TBP overtop of the existing one and that didn't fix it either. What's the right way to do a clean install but not lose all my emails?

Path Changed

If you already changed the path, the launcher can't help you. You can delete the file ThunderbirdPortable.ini within TBP\Data\settings and that will reset the launcher and may fix it. But you may have to rebuild your profile. The settings files within TBP aren't really meant to be manually messed with. You may be able to fix at that point by restoring all the bits in prefs.js, extensions.ini, etc to the proper path.

In the end I installed 3.01

In the end I installed 3.01 in a parallel folder without attaching it to my account and installed Lightning in it and proved that it (Lightning) worked. Then I started copying profile folders over and finally got Lightning to show up but it still wouldn't let me create events. And the error I described in the first note was still showing up. Finally did a google on moz-profile-calendar and found others having the same trouble and a reference to storage.sdb. So I copied the relatively blank storage.sdb from the parallel install and all seems to be well now.

Lightning - OK

I'm using TBP 3.0 and lightning - I would suggest using the nightly build version as this is more stable. I'm using 1.0b2pre. Just install it via the 'Install' add-on section in TBP.

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/nightly/latest...

Please get back to me if I can be of more help.

I think John's diagnosis is

I think John's diagnosis is probably right but if reinstall doesn't fix it I'll be back to ask questions. Thanks.
