While I was browsing DeviantArt I noticed this set of Portable Drive icons, guess what one of them are. Its a HDD with the portable apps logo (Did he ask permission for that?) its really cool. Just wanted to share with everyone, wouldnt it be cool if we could make one like that one.

You can set that as your drive icon in the AutoRun file.
Actually, the next platform release will have a default icon of the PA.c flash drive as seen on the Suite page.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Cool!! Thanks John for replying
Fan of Windows 7 and Linux. But mainly opensource and PortableApps
Until the new version comes out (cough, cough) you might want to look at the drive icons at:

explain to a non-programmer how I use that. do i alter the Autorun.inf to point to the image?
or what?
If you made those, wow, very nice!

The icons aren't mine, but I can tell you how to use them.

[Autorun]
Open=StartPortableApps.exe
Action=Start PortableApps.com
Icon=PAM-Stick - Icon 1.ico
Label=PortableApps.com

worked great!
I tried this on XP and Windows7 and I love the icon (esp the red one)

They do look good.
I use the "stick" icon for my 4gig stick, and one of the hard drive ones for my 160gig external I use when the 4gig isn't enough.
Funny thing is that the external drive I use for permanent media storage (pictures, video, and music) is a Seagate that came with its own icon that looks just like the drive.
Now, just glancing at the drive icons in FreeCommander tells me which external drive I have hooked up.

The drive icon in question says "Portable Portable". That's just really tacky. The other icons are real sharp -- the whole set is -- but that one name is just wrong. I like the alternative Firefox logo -- I've seen it before, is it official for anything?
Someone posted a site in another topic, Icon Wiki or something. It wasn't even a wiki, I don't think, which was strange, but it was a ton of icons, and I got my drive icon from there.
Fact: No matter what icon John picks for the Platform, YOU will always be able to find one YOU like more on the web if you look, and it's so easy to switch. Just drop it in your drive's root and edit AUTORUN.INF and change StartPortableApps.exe under ICON to the name of your icon. It's that easy. The one I have isn't great, but I picked it in a hurry and I enjoy seeing it. It's unique (for me) and that's cool. (Keep in mind this is just the drive icon, not the systray icon.)
