ThunderBird - extremmely slow response when running from U3 drive

Hi there,

I'm running ThunderBird from my U3 drive (Sandisk Cruzer Titanium) and it often happens that moving from one message to another or opening an attachment takes seconds - the app looks like frozen... Do anybody have any idea what can be the broblem? Version is (I think) 1.5.0.4 - the one installed via U3.com. Size of the message box on the drive is over 100MB - can this cause the problems? I'm connecting it to USB2 port of course.

Compact folders

Try compacting your folders first, which should decrease your mailbox size. When selecting any folder (in Local Folders if you download them all to there, in the specific mailbox if you download them to there) and select File - Compact Folders.

Also, what, if any, extensions are you using? There are a couple that may slow things down.

I'll try but I don't think this is the problem as this is a new installation and I've imported all the messages from outlook few days ago. So I think there's nothing to compact.

Regarding extensions - I've only installed Czech user interface and spellchecker dictionary. Nothing else.

Any other ideas?
