I have my PortableApps (including Firefox) installed in my Dropbox (which makes it the world's first genuine cloud-based OS ). How come the computers that are synced with my Dropbox don't have the same Firefox configuration? They should, right? Say I install some Firefox add-on on one computer, I configure the add-on, and move to a different computer and start FireFox portable there. Then surprise! I have to configure the add-on on that computer as well! Why is that? (Note that I've been assured that the add-on stores its preferences using the Mozilla Preferences API.)
Is the path different on different PCs? If so, that's your issue. The path needs to be the same (example: C:\PortableApps or C:\Users\username\Documents\PortableApps ... though the latter will be too long for some apps like OpenOffice.org).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Yep, that's it. Can you think of a way to work around this (as I can't have the same path on all computers)?
Thanks.
Set it manually to the same path on all PCs. Something like C:\PortableApps. Then it will work fine. If they're different, several apps will have issues.

If that's the case, why can I use the plugins on my jump drive, even if the jump drive comes up as I: on one computer and K: on another one?
PortableApps.com launchers are designed to handle changes in DRIVE letter. They are not (necessarily) designed to handle changes in PATH as in the directory tree that holds the program.
If the relative PATH changes from say Anydrive:\PortableApps to Otherdrive:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\PortableApps then it won't work.
Drive letter changes from say Anydrive:\PortableApps to Otherdrive:\PortableApps is all fine (as you say).
