Help with regshot

I'm working on two more portable apps and I used regshot to find the registry entries and such, I keep finding other registry entries that have nothing to do with the apps I am working on, what should I do to keep them from coming up?
Also: any thing that will take a snapshot of the registry and restore the registry to a snapshot?

with regshot, you can't

with regshot, you can't filter them.

You should be able to do a export\restore with regshot. But I've never tried it, just seen something in the regedit menu Wink

Would instilling a new windows install help? Could I use sandboxie to find the reg/files that a certain program infects the computer with?

Depends on the app

Most apps run well in Sandboxie (I actually use Sandboxie instead of RegShot when portabilizing an app), but some don't handle the redirection well. In particular, I've found that "Select folder" dialogs frequently cause crashes; I don't know why, though.

Close Sandboxie, open

Close Sandboxie, open RegEdit, select the HKLM hive, and hit File -> Load Hive. Browse to the Sandboxie registry hive (it's named REGHIVE, and is in the sandbox folder) and open it; RegEdit will ask you what you want to name the hive. I call mine "sandboxie"; pick whatever name you like. Browse the HKLM\sandboxie hive and see what's in there; when you're done, select HKLM\sandboxie (MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THAT SELECTED, or you could cause a LOT of trouble with your system), then File -> Unload Hive.

that would make it take less

that would make it take less time to do. I suggest using something like virtual box to make a new windows install Smile
