QuakeLive portable on firefox

Ok every FPS fan should kno QuakeLive, its free version of Quake 3 Arena + mods and enhancements, but it's browser based and sadly not only that u have 2 download the plugin for specific browsed, but even more sadly that it saves all the game itself in user profile folder like "C:\Documents and Settings\username " and so on.

but I've used different portable apps and kno dat some of em do this wierd trick - when u browse through windows to " c:\program files " u dont see the portable app that u are using, and yet when u browse through the portable app u see somthing like - well don't remember but maybe " c:\program files\Gimp " or maybe " c:\program files\nero9\burning ROM ".

And so maybe do the same thing with " firefox portable " and make it think that documents and settings are in the portable app folder, probably with portable app launcher.

I am not sure about the plugin tho ! Sad
Sorry i might not have been clear !:( Sad

Nope i don't think it possable..

Since when you install Quakelive it also installs Punkbuster as well as its anti-cheat system which afaik isn't portable and without Punkbuster, Quakelive won't run.

Punkbuster just isnt portable.

When you install Quakelive it also installs Punkbuster which is the anti-cheat program that Quakelive uses. Punkbuster is a windows service component (program that starts when your computer boots up and runs in the background without you knowing about it) and trys to integrate itself into the windows OS, which means that it isn't portable and so without Quakelive's anti-cheat system you wouldn't be able to play the game.

Yeah Q3 should be.

Q3 should be portable since i don't think it writes anything to the windows registry and doesn't rely heavily on any anti-cheat system, you should be able to just copy it over to a flash drive and take it with you.

You could try.

Well if you can't find any work arounds then you could try some of the free games based on the Quake game engine like Nexuiz, Warsaw and Tremulous since most of them are portable afaik and include interesting ideas.

Unreal Tournament '99

If you want an old-school FPS, just look at Unreal Tournament '99. Get the latest patch and it won't check the CD anymore. Install it and copy the directory to your flash drive. (Copy, rather than move.) Uninstall it from your local drive. Configure the PortableApps Launcher to point to System\ut.exe (I think that's it) and remove the uninstaller. That SHOULD work.

(Actually not sure about UT'99 but Deus Ex is a commercial total conversion mod for UT'99 and it's portable, so UT'99 should be and so should other commercial mods like Rune and others.)

Theyr is a fix :)

Their is a way around this punkbuster problem and quakelive, as i installed FLASH player manually , i just need some help from you guys with the Quakelive directory for every specific file , you dont even need a portable firefox , have that hidden and on that computer running on max fps , that is if your at school and trying to take advantage of the pc at full .

firstly this tutorial showed me how to install flash player manually with a uniextractor http://my.opera.com/Tamil/blog/how-t...l-flash-player

from theyr i tried to uni extract the .msi file of the quakelive plugin however , heres the thing , i really want to know where every file of quakelive files to be in and what folders should be created , thanks for the help guys i really appreciate it,

to have punkbuster moved, you can use a terminal linux like application to move those pb .dll files enforceably , doing this once and waAala i have quake at my work plcae , please anyone update me if im wrong i think theyr is a way we just must think openly
