Google Chrome Portable 4.0.249.89 has been released along with the 5.0 Development build. Google Chrome Portable is a web browser that runs web pages and applications with lightning speed. It's designed to be simple and stylish. This release updates Google Chrome to the latest version and adds experimental support for password management when switching PCs. It's packaged as a portable app, so you can take your browsing experience with you and it's in PortableApps.com Format so it can easily integrate with the PortableApps.com Suite. It's partially open source freeware for personal and business use.

Google Chrome's features include:

New In This Release
This release updates Google Chrome to the latest version and features an improved installer. Experimental support for passwords when moving between PCs has been added (see the included help.html file)
PortableApps.com Installer / PortableApps.com Format
Google Chrome Portable is packaged in a PortableApps.com Installer so it will automatically detect an existing PortableApps.com installation when your drive is plugged in. It supports upgrades by installing right over an existing copy, preserving all settings. And it's in PortableApps.com Format, so it automatically works with the PortableApps.com Suite including the Menu and Backup Utility.

Google Chrome Portable is available for immediate download from the Google Chrome Portable homepage. The Development build is available from the test section. Get it today!

Hopefully I'll push some quick version bumps (Development Test builds of course, for those who don't know how this works) over this weekend, the Chrome 5.0 Dev build released today finally has working NoScript-like functionality I just HAVE to share with everyone!

This was tagged as an Open
This was tagged as an Open Source Release. Shouldn't it be Freeware?
All the other ones for Google Chrome Portable were tagged as Freeware Releases.

Freeware vs. OpenSource
Heh,
See https://portableapps.com/node/15720.
They got slack about making ChromePortable, and were demanded in the end to rename it to Chromium! And now it is suddenly allowed?
PS, AFAIK you are still not allowed to redistribute Chrome like this as it isn't OpenSource (only Freeware).
Can someone please verify this?
BTW, the starter on the other page has worked for every version of both Chrome and Chromium for the last year. And funnily enough on my stick the passwords are very usuable between machines, so I am not sure what's up with that.
But, I DO appreciate this though, and will try it out immediatly Thanks man.
Online installer
Google Chrome Portable is an online installer, meaning it downloads Google Chrome from Google's servers, and thus doesn't need to redistribute it.
It looks like they actually
It looks like they actually distributed Chromium (which is freely distributable), not Chrome (which is not, because of the branding). One of these days I may get around to cracking open the Chromium source code and changing stuff (such as saved passwords, profile storage, Google Update support etc) so I can simplify the launcher, but for now I will simply wrap the existing Chrome.
Also I try to be careful to put a nice fat disclaimer about not being affiliated with Google etc.
New 5.0 Feature
I recommend trying out the new Content Settings in the latest 5.0 dev build. It can provide functionality similar to NoScript for Firefox (though slightly less powerful).
I disabled third-party cookies, all JavaScript, and all plugins. I can then add JS and plugin exceptions on a site-by-site basis using icons on the omnibar when a site tries to use them. I just ignore requests for third-party cookies.
Only downside is extensions that use script injection will not function properly on pages with disabled JavaScript (they can inject scripts... which won't run :P).
Great Work
I love this site and the people
Great!
It's the good news. I like a portableapp building's. Big thanks your!)

Extensions?
Where should I download extensions to? I've tried the default place, Chrome's root folder, and the extensions folder in Chrome-bin. What happens is, I download it, it finishes downloading, and then windows shows a dialog saying it doesn't know how to open this file.
So, how do I install extensions for Portable Chrome?
