Pidgin Language

I wanted to have Pidgin in my language. So I downloaded all languages packs and then deleted languages I didn't need. But when I run Pidgin it is still in English. The advise how to set a certain language didn't help me:

"head to PidginPortable\Data\settings directory and open up PidginPortableSettings.ini. In there, set PidginLANG equal to the language you wish to use..."

Because I have nothing in the Data folder...

Can you help me, please?

Run

By Spec, there shouldn't be anything in the Data folder until the first run. Just run PidginPortable once, and it'll appear.
If you're wondering why we would put nothing in the Data folder, it's so that upgrading is a whole lot simpler (don't need to worry about losing settings).

It just doesn't work :-(

I have those problems:

1.Pidgin should operate in the language of the operating system it's running on. I use Czech language and even I set Czech language installing Pidgin when I run Pidgin I can see all in English.

2. Even I set in PidginPortableSettings.ini "PidginLANG=cs" Pidgin is still in English

BTW my operating system is XP Professional...

Do you use the official portable apps menu?

I am not familiar with Pidgin Portable my self,

but did you ever try setting the PortableApps Menu language to Czech?

I don't use that software yet

I don't use the PortableApps Menu yet. I use PStart and for example Skype works properly in Czech... But I don't think it would help me that with Pidgin interface language...

Just give it a try !

I think (all most ) all portableapps.com launchers are based on some script that looks for the portableApps Menu language (instead of the o.s. language), so I give it a good change it will work. Although it should be working in Czech even if your not using the menu, I agree on that one ! Hope you'll get some feedback about that, of the developer of PidginPortable Launcher

Anyway what's wrong with using the PA menu ?
Just download it and install, if it doesn't work (or you don't like it) you can just delete it again!

Sorry to butt in, but here's my reason:

I don't use the PA menu because I'm in love with 8start Launcher. I just can't imagine life without it! A large part of it is the fact that I can have file links along with apps, and it's so configurable!

I might try the new PA menu when it's released but I doubt it will pull me away from 8start. 8-)

HERE!

There's no need to start screaming.

I just changed the language of my menu to french and voila, I have Pidgin in french.

If you dont use the PLatform, you can follow the instructions on the Pidgin Portable Support page.
