The current 3.7 semi-stable is Alpha 2, which is packaged. Alpha 3 Pre installer auto-downloads the current nightly build. Unless Mozilla changed the URLs or something. So what exactly needs updating?

I was just using it right now and it said that the new version is available. I looked at your news and it didn't say anythining about a new version, so I figured that you didn't update it.
It installs the current nightly version when you install it. So, it's out of date 24 hours later (since it's a nightly build). You can update it yourself by just reinstalling or by using one of the tools from Mozilla that update it.
