This is a concept idea that I thought of and I think it would be cool if could be implemented into the website.
It would be like a checkout system on a online store.
1) You would select the applications you want to download on the application list or on the apps page.
2) Once your done you will "checkout" and download the installer and the list of apps you want to download.
3) Then you run the installer it checks, you select where you want all of them to be installed to if the PA.c menu is not installed or selected it will ask if you want it or not.
It would be called The PA.c 123 installer
I would think most of it could be done with javascript, a web cookie, a xml file and the installer.
But it's already being implemented as the PA Updater:
https://portableapps.com/node/16779
It's supposed to be included in the next release of the menu.
I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.
Oh my. Does this mean in the future I'm going to have to run java script and keep a bunch of cookies to get new applications? I'll stay with what I've got, thank you.
The current version is well, just "slicker than snot. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Bob
You've got it wrong. It will be implemented in the PortableApps.com Platform itself, so no need for browser-related cookies/javascript. You download just the small PA.c Platform (about 1 or 2 MB), install it where you want to and then use the PortableApps.com Updater (integrated into the Platform) to download and install just the apps you want to have. So there are no cookies or anything... You don't choose which apps from your web browser, you do it from the PA.c menu!
At least, that's the plan. We'll see what comes in the final version when it gets out though
My posts are old and likely no longer relevant.
This is quite true. The regulars in IRC have already seen the screenshots of it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
