Any AntiVirus Program!

Okay guys, I know that we have Clamwin and all, but I just don't like Clamwin. Can we please have any other portable antivirus? Thanks for all your hard work guys!!!!!

What are you trying to do?

Why? What do you want to use it for? I think that pretty much everyone on this site is agreed that a Portable Anti-Virus solution is not for everyday use but more as a second opinion.

You should be using something more robust that has a resident scanner, and to operate effectively that is going to require hooks into the operating system, no getting around it.

I think ClamwinPortable works perfectly well for its intended purpose.

Sure, use virustotal to check

Sure, use virustotal to check the file before you run it. That's what I do Smile

it needs some esoteric components

to be added to make it work, or how can the database be some 350 kb and all the rest of the world needs dozens of mb for the database of its signatures?
OK, it uses heuristics only, it has no other ability to scan anything.

Not Good?

Heuristics only! Wonder what the detection success rate would be in that case? Pardon

well it

marks this and that, in rather random matter, also additional 'tools' downloaded from the same author are marked as potential dangerous and should be sent to the author for further testing.(???)

ZenOK Free Antivirus

well I use ZenOK Free Antivirus lately has been improving their software for some time, I like it a lot. Virus updates are a bit slower than Symantec or McAfee. Norton’s Antivirus 2005 is a pain, but more secure.

You should give it a try Blum

Norton AV 2005?

Whoa man! using an outdated engine is dangerous. you would be better off using ClamWin than using a outdated home AV.

the reason i say HOME AV is because enterprise AV have a much longer support period. i have Symantic Enterprise and McAfee Enterprise from the 2007 and 2004 era respectivly. they still would work and would get regular updates only if i manualy download the updates myself and push them out. Sadly i dont use them becuase i run a Unix Machine at home.
