Hi.
I installed the last version of Pidgin Portable and all look fine. I started the app and started to add my accounts, later, I quit from Pidgin, and then I opened it again, and Pidgin ask me again add each account... why?? I redownload and reinstall, clean cache, but the problem still is there, every time I open Pidgin, every time that I need to add my accounts.
What can I do?
Thanks for your help.

You should be launching PidginPortable.exe and not Pidgin.exe. PidginPortable.exe is the launcher that saves all your settings and moves files around so it functions properly. I don't use Pidgin, but it sounds like that is most likely your problem.
Thanks Devo, I run the pidgin directly from the file. First I only found pidginportable.exe; i can't find aby pidgin.exe... maybe there is the problem... but how works well when I start if I haven't pidgin.exe ??... ok, you give an idea of which maybe is the problem.. thanks!!!
I have same problem. It is not funny to add 6 accounts everytime. And their passwords are generated with Keepass portable.
How are you both exiting pidgin? Are you definitely shutting it down completely, there is no chance that it is minimized in the system tray, down by your clock? Because if it is still there when you pull out the drive, then it will definitely never save your settings.
I right click every portableapp icons and select exit/quit. Then I open Portableapps platform and click "irroita" or in english "unmount". How I should close Pidgin?
Need to find some commonality between the two users, it's obviously something to do with their environments.
What operating systems are you using?
What other software is running? (Maybe an Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware program is blocking file changes?)
What Flash drives are you using? brand/manufacture etc.
What protocols are you using? OR What types of accounts are you trying to create?
"What operating systems are you using?"
Windows XP (home/pro) or Ubuntu 9.10 with latest WINE beta version.
"What other software is running? (Maybe an Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware program is blocking file changes?)"
Now Open Office launcher, HP wireless assistant,Google Talk, Widcomm Bluetooth software, Google Desktop, Avast Antivirus, Synaptics cursor device and Intel Graphics Accelerator fo mobile.
"What Flash drives are you using? brand/manufacture etc."
Kingston Datatraveler U2 (4gt)
"What protocols are you using? OR What types of accounts are you trying to create?"
Facebook, MSN(X2), Xfire (Gfire), Skype (Skype4Pidgin).
Now it works.
1.Install Pidgin (normal no portable)
2.Create accounts.
3.Copy .purple to pidgin portable. (Look pidgin FAQ [you'll need to rename and remove .purple original files{pidgin portable}])
4.It works!
You shouldn't need to do this but oh well, if it works for you.
I have the exact same problem.
Vista x64 - Avira
It's not even related to quitting : when I open up a conversation dialog and type a message it displays "Logging of this conversation failed".
So it can't write to the disk! (It's installed in a folder on my Hard Drive).
Any ideas?
Thanks
You didn't install it to Program Files on C:\ did you? If so, move it. Portable apps don't work from there.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks for the reply.
Nope, it's installed in a generic folder -> C:\My Stuff\Utilities\pidgin .
