John, would you please release an updated launcher with support for the ini inside the \PortableApps\ folder? I keep the ini in \PortableApps\FirefoxPortable. I tried to modify it myself, but I don't know much about NSIS, and it's not as simple as changing line 91:
IfFileExists "$EXEDIR\${NAME}.ini" "" NoINI
to
IfFileExists "$EXEDIR\PortableApps\${NAME}\${NAME}.ini" "" NoINI

As I indicated in the release announcement, support for all alternate INI locations has been dropped. It's being dropped from all apps.

Not from me. I'm working on simplifying all the launchers as the whole multiple directory thing is where bugs usually happened... and most people use the defaults anyway. Plus, all those INI checks had to happen before it could launch normally (default layouts) so it slowed things down for everyone who didn't use an INI (which is nearly everyone).
Just place the INI next to the EXE. Or use the other supported directory layout with no INI... moving FirefoxPortable.exe one directory up so it's in the same directory as the FirefoxPortable directory.

Just remember that you can't do the Mozilla ones (Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird). Well, you could if you didn't use the names or logos in the splash, icon or app name.
