Toucan 2.2.1: 1) Command line Error in language different of english 2) Report

Hello,

To begin, thanks a lot for the wonderful tool of Toucan.
I'am using "rsync" to synchronize directories between Linux servers.
I was searching a tool to do the same between windows servers.

I tried to use "SyncToy", but even in the last version, the tools have bugs. Also, the configuration file is mandatory, and under a specific windows user, and crypted.

With "Toucan", I can run some synchronisations in command line without configuring them before. Like this:

"C:\program\Toucan\Toucan.exe" "Sync" "C:\Temp\Source" "C:\Temp\Target" "Mirror" "" true true true true

Also, I can use servers shared directories, like this:

"C:\program\Toucan\Toucan.exe" "Sync" "\\l2_arr_sd\aprpmp\tmp" "C:\Temp\Target2" "Mirror" "" true true true true

But I encountered a small bug, before I can use Toucan properly.
I installed the product in french (as the installer suggests me to do, as the windows are installed in french by default (I'am in France)).
When I run the command line, a error message appears in a popup, saying mandatory parameters are missing! But, the job was partially done!
I tried several times, with minor modifications in files to synchronize, and the new files was synchronized, but the updated files not!

After that, I changed the default language as "english"; and miracle; no popup error messages, all the files are correctly synchronized (new, updated and deleted ones).
So the workaround of the problem is to install or setup the language as "english" to run properly the command line.

My enhancements for the product is to catch the message displayed in a popup windows during the run.
When Toucan runs, it's in a separated windows, and it's not possible to see what is done at the end, and correctly or not.

SyncToy gives such kind of informations:

Preview of PRA-premium-PROD-to-STB-report (\\l2_arr_sedit\premium\aprpmp\report\, D:\premium\aprpmstb\report\) in time 00:00:00:140.
SyncToy action was 'Echo'
Found 0 actions to perform.
Found 406 files that did not require action.
Analyzed 2,887.1 files per second.
Avoided copying 127,385,698 bytes in 406 files.
Saved approximately 00:04:14:00 by not copying any files.

SyncToy run of PRA-premium-PROD-to-STB-report (\\l2_arr_sedit\premium\aprpmp\report\, D:\premium\aprpmstb\report\) completed at 3/28/2010 8:15:50 PM.
SyncToy action was 'Echo'.
SyncToy options were:
Active for run all
All files included
No files excluded
Do not check file contents
Include read-only files
Include hidden files
Include system files
Do not backup older files
All subfolders included
SyncToy run took 00:00:00:031.
Copied 0 bytes in 0 files in 00:00:00:31.
Bytes per second 0.0, files per second 0.0.
Avoided copying 127,385,698 bytes in 406 files that did not require action.
Saved approximately 00:04:14:00 by not copying all files.

It will be nice to catch a report of the actions done by Toucan.

Reporting

Hello,

I just discovered that Toucan create a log file for each run in "Data" directory.

It should be nice to parameter it in command line, with an optional parameter "log=", like this:

"C:\program\Toucan\Toucan.exe" "Sync" "C:\Temp\Source" "C:\Temp\Target" "Mirror" "" true true true true log=...

So for each run, I can recognise the log file with the filename I want.
I say that, that I have to automate the process on different servers with an external ordering tool, which can display the log for each run. It avoid to connect on each server and try to find which log is linked of a run.

Alain DEREN
