So, I had an idea to install a load of portable apps to my website, and have a link on the website so I could use them anywhere, even if I forgot my USB stick.
Now, I have installed Portable Apps on USB, iPod, HD, etc, and I have managed to get the apps installed onto my webspace, with the .EXE showing up on the website.
The problem I am having though, is that I can't seem to get them to run; When I select the .EXE files (I am using Windows to test all this out), the web browser just asks me to save the file, and not run.
Have anyone managed to get this working, and if so, how did you do it?
I think it would be really useful to get something like this running, even if it was just for myself.
Of course, if I get it working, I will happily point you all in the direction of the website.

to run it directly via web browser, well it is probably not supposed to be done, but when a virtual drive is set up, it could work, provided the communication is fast enough.

If you have a Linux based server, the applications most likely will not run.
