Possible alternative

RedNoteBook appears to be astoundingly feature rich. I am no expert but it occurs to me that the more complex an application the more work involved in modifying it to be portable, at least potentially. There is an application that is superficially similar in that it acts as a sort of journal or notebook, though it is for use with text only.

CintaNotes is already entirely portable and though it is in beta it seams to be fairly stable. I have been playing with it for a few days with no complaints. I realize this could never replace RedNoteBook, as the differences are so vast, but I thought it might offer a partial portable solution.

RedNoteBook has a built in

RedNoteBook has a built in portable switch though I'm not sure how to use it. I think it's just a matter of setting a value in an ini or cfg. Would be good to have it in PAF so this switch was automatically activated as well as the rest of the PAF advantages.

Found the switch

Found the switch it is in the maon program directory/files.default.cfg

So now to see what can be done with it. It looks real possible but the program itself is large ( about 55 mb and that is with nothing saved) Will keep on investigating it.

Sweet As!

With regards to size, PAF's UPX compression will hopefully reduce that size Smile

Dropped 13.4 mb

I compressed it naked ( no PA stuff yet) and went froom 57,658kb to 44,263 kb a savings of 13,395 kb. So will play more later and see what can be done?

Correct

It is GTK based, and yes I do believe I can make it portable. If interested let me know

Made Portable

Looks like I may have been able to make it portable. I uploaded it here and will work on a proper Hewlp file and such. Then maybe release it to development? Take a look if you like.
