No disrespect, really. Version 1.6 is just not working out for me. I was much happier before I upgraded. Is the previous version of PAM (1.5x) still available?

Could you please tell us what it is that you don't like about 1.6 over 1.5? It may help us to improve it.
If you really want older versions though they're available through our SourceForge project.

I find PAM 1.6 noticeably slower than 1.5x...the left side of the menu is slower to appear when my flash drive is inserted, and my Documents folder is slower to appear when I select Documents from the menu. In general, I find it faster to start portable apps and navigate through folders with Windows Explorer.
Then again, there might be something unique about my setup that causes this. I'll also try a clean install of PAM...it's easy with a portable app.
It's not slower: it's actually faster. The difference is that now it shows the menu straight away and then shows progress loading the application list, whereas before it just didn't show the menu until it was all ready. It's definitely faster now, even if sometimes it feels slower.
As for the speed of the loading of an Explorer window to the Documents directory, nothing has changed in that at all.

As the subject implies, I removed my existing PAM 1.6 and replaced it with a fresh copy. What a difference! Everything is faster now.
